Twins on the Way - Janice Maynard

Series: Kavanaghs of Silver Glen (Book 4)

Workaholic Cassidy Corelli was a virgin…until her one night with Gavin Kavanagh. Now the daughter of a Vegas mogul has two little problems -- the twins she's carrying! When her father disowns her, she's left with only one place to go -- back to Gavin.

But the millionaire's been burned before. He wants a paternity test. Until then, he's determined to keep this woman out of his bed -- for his own good. But once he's enjoyed a perfect passion, can a starving man deny himself one more taste?

Good story. Gavin is in Las Vegas, filling in as a speaker at a convention. When it's over, he's full of energy so he goes on a long walk. He comes across a woman being attacked and rescues her, taking her back to his hotel when she doesn't want to go home.

Cassidy is the daughter of a Las Vegas casino owner. She has worked very hard to show her old fashioned father that she is just as good at the business as her brother is. She hasn't had the time or inclination for any romantic relationships. When an argument with her brother escalates, she is stunned to have a stranger come to her rescue and whisk her away.

Cassidy and Gavin have a case of instant attraction. Gavin is a bit of a loner, having been burned badly by a woman when he was in college, and he is surprised by the strength of his feelings for Cassidy. He is wary of being with her, but the chemistry is hot and he will be gone from Vegas the next day. Cassidy had never felt that way around another man. The feelings are strong enough that she wants Gavin to be her first. Though he seems to be rather cynical, she also senses that he is a good man. Since he's leaving the next day, she also feels that it will be safe to give in for once.

But what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas. Ten weeks later Cassidy has discovered that she is pregnant. Her father is furious and kicks Cassidy out of their home, leaving her no choice but to go to Gavin for help. He hasn't been able to forget her and is stunned when she shows up on his doorstep, claiming to be pregnant. He doesn't trust her, thinking that he's being used again, but he can't turn her away.

Deep in his heart Gavin knows that Cassidy's babies are his, but his fears hold him back from claiming them. It doesn't stop him from taking excellent care of Cassidy as she battles morning sickness and the hurt inflicted by her father. Cassidy's pride makes it difficult for her to accept Gavin's help, but she does so because of the babies. Getting to know Gavin better also helps change her feelings from simple attraction to love, but she won't confess her love to a man who doesn't trust her.

When her father calls and asks for her help with a problem at the casino, she asks Gavin for his help. He's there for her with the results and when she confronts her father and brother. He's fighting his feelings and his past and nearly loses it all before he finally sees sense. I loved his moment of grovelling at the end, before Cassidy puts him out of his misery. I loved the epilogue and meeting those babies.
